Gaining power and self-agency over trauma time hijack

THE CLIMB

Level 1: Identify what is real vs what is threat signal. This trains cognitive discrimination

Level 2: Choosing how I respond. This builds response inhibition.

Level 3: Staying present while discomfort exists. This builds working memory under stress.

Level 4: Completing tasks while emotionally activated. That is how executive function is restored after trauma.

Level 5: This is when the brain shifts from: “Fear is happening to me” to “I am happening to fear” That is prefrontal dominance over the limbic system - Climb Complete.

The Tearstone Fountain:

Ritualizing fear release while choosing to engage it creates a loop:

Fear → Choice → Action → Completion → Relief

That is how the brain learns: I am in charge again. That is the ECN rewiring itself.
