CREEKSIDE PUBLISHING
An Independent New York publisher
We draw the incredible moments from the journey of your soul.
2017 - We attended our first local book signings at Burlingham Books. We talked with the authors, bought their books, and observed the events with the idea of future hosting plans.
2018 - Two more authors visited the bookstore. It was now called Bibliotech Cafe. We enjoyed meeting them, buying their books, and observing the events.
That March, we created our publishing company to begin a book series, provide author tests and novel development contracts, and create journals to help authors prepare their work for submission to publishers.
2019 - Four more authors appeared at the local bookstore in 2019. Again, we spoke with them, bought their books, and observed the events.
In 2019, our company began planning Guest Author kits to invite authors to our Open Book Authors writing group. We created and began testing a series of six journals for project authors called Shoebox Projects.
We also created The Sundown Club Group to host private support groups for six self-help journals.
2020 - We witnessed the shutdown of our beloved local bookstores - some permanently.
We had hoped to start bringing our books and authors there for launches and grow to become a traditional publisher.
Instead, 2020 became our busiest year for novel development and agency. We created six writer workshops, a five-level fitness and mental toughness program (Castle Training), began our Authentication Interviews, a private podcast (Ice Queen Rising), and THREE AUTHOR TOUR KITS!
2021 - As we waited for the world to reopen for author tours, we focused on editorial contracts and product development and testing. We worked on Book Nooks, Book and theme Parties, Games and puzzles, and Genre Gifts and created our Prodigious Author Workshop Kits!
2022 - We created four contests, genre events, Peacock Parables, Micro-memoirs, Road Trips, BiblioPODS, and Dogwood Park Canine Club.
No authors appeared at the local bookstore.
We continued to help our authors plan their book tours in a world that was still struggling to establish new norms. We had hoped to begin bringing our authors to the local bookstore, but it hadn't yet regained a consistently reliable schedule.
2023 - This year would impact our company in incredible unexpected ways.
Our plan to open a brick-and-mortar downtown location to build a core team became a reality.
Then, the bookstore that was next door to our location closed unexpectedly.
Upon acquiring a business plan development lease for that neighboring space, we were faced with the challenge of adapting our original vision to fit it. This required us to make strategic decisions and compromises, all while staying true to our brand and goals.
While trying to make it all fit, our downtown core team recruitment plan sat simmering on a backburner.
The desire to begin hosting wonderful author events became the shining star of our long-term plan. What would become of it all?
2024 - The new year dawned with greater enlightenment born of newly-gained experience. New connections helped us realize that we shouldn't compromise on anything that reduces our vision. We determined to stay within the scope of what we intend to bring to our authors.
We pivoted back to:
-
Network with bookstores that host signings
-
Network with other venues that host signings
-
Scout for the larger location with parking for our own local venue that fit our plan
-
Work with developers on the details of our future local venue
